Primary School Incursions

The Whole World in a Bubble
We have found soap bubbles to be the most underestimated and untapped learning tool in our World today, and we are set on changing this. Our Primary and Elementary School Incursions are considered best practice, everywhere we go.Do you remember the moment you first saw a soap bubble? That fascination, that wonder, that awe? We do. We see it and live it everyday. Our World is literally full of bubbles; water bubbles, foam bubbles, cake bubbles, cell-bubbles, the atmosphere is bubble-like, atoms and electron shells and even the Sun is bubble-like in structure. And everyone lives in their own little bubble don't they? We have little Self bubbles, identity bubbles and ego bubbles. We even think and communicate is little envelopes of thought bubbles and speech bubbles. Bubble Media's Andrew Suttar is probably the World's leading expert in the use of soap bubbles in education. His extraordinary insight into the bubbleness of everything has developed over 15 years into and an entire bubble paradigm. Our Primary and Elementary School Incursions Services have been designed by Andrew and blend the best of traditional and progressive pedagogies.

Incredibubble Show
This is the first part of a Bubble Media school visit. The show is so enjoyable and popular with all ages that it inspired the ‘mania’ part of ‘Bubble Maniac’. Educationally, a show is a device which generates huge volumes of enthusiasm and interest in a topic or device, in this case soap films and bubbles. We incorporate volunteers, we put them inside giant bubbles, have them succeed in bubbly challenges and generally weave joy, humour and inspiration. We have one of the few shows that is respected as ‘cool’ by older kids. Bubble artistry is one of the most unique and visually stunning activities on the planet, and we take bubbling to the ‘nth’ degree.
The Giant Bubble Making Activity
By the end of the show, Dr Froth will have woven magnitudes of “I want a shot” in his audience. So out they go to a fully equipped, 100% hands-on activity with twice as much bubble-blowing equipment than there will be participants. The session begins with a quick demonstration of the techniques used to wield bubbles successfully so as everyone gets the most out their hands-on exoerience. Students and teachers will get to make the biggest bubbles of their lives, and through sensory play, begin the process of understanding the foundation concepts in bubbleology, such as; elasticity, balance, expansion, contraction, fluids, colours, shape...and we’ll stop there because a double-sided A4 brochure isn’t long enough. Hands-on learning is paramount to understanding concepts because it provides the tangible experience (from sensory to conceptual). This crucial activity compliments the show for a further 45 minutes and it is strictly compulsory for teachers to participate.Pre and Post Visit Lessons
The show creates ‘mania’ worthy interest, the hands-on activity transforms this into tangible experience. And the follow-up activities to be run in-class by teachers consolidate sensory understanding into conceptual understanding. The activity pack is given to the school and includes student-sheet masters, teachers’ notes on facilitation, curriculum links, mess-minimisation and most importantly, it includes secret bubble recipes. The activities have been selected from a wealth of bubble phenomena and ideas to flow-on from the Bubblemania school visit in the most continuous, consolidating way. Links to the curriculum are impressive to say the least and upper primary students using ‘open investigations’ have well over a term’s worth of investigation ahead of them.
Logistics & Requirements
Upon arrival (approximately 30mins before the 1st show) we would appreciate the assistance of a group of 4-6 mature students in the setup of the hands-on activity/workshop equipment as there is just so much of it.Bubble shows only work indoors (wind/drafts = bad show). Any fully enclosed room such as a standard sized classroom or equivalent indoor area such as a library can fit easily fir the bubble show and 125 sitting on the ground. All mess is fully contained. The performing bubbleologist weaves their bubble magic for approx 45minutes. Group sizes are generally 80-125 students (ie, 3-5 classes at a time). The hands-on activity/workshop must take place outdoors, either on grass, paving or bitumen. Most undercover areas are suitable however we have found some undercover areas to be slippery when wet. We require access to a tap & hose for the outdoor activity/workshop.For bookings, please email us: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
